Graphics was the project I had expected to find the easiest or at least most straight forward. The brief which we were given required us to make 10 vintage compositions, one for each letter K-T. We didn't need to use photoshop or anything, simple cutting and sticking, easy!
This project however, I struggled with. I got the complete wrong end of the stick, I had assumed our compositions had to have some running theme throughout (I chose Manchester United) and with that I had shot myself in the foot. Finding images associated with lesser known players from 30+ years ago that didn't include a massive 'getty images' watermark was a challenge!
In the end though researching the players was something I enjoyed, I got chance to sit down with my Grandad and go through the photos - he told me a lot of interesting stories and I feel I really learn't a lot about a club I thought I already knew a lot about!
Above is the legendary Tommy Taylor, killed in the Munich air disaster in 1958 he was only 26 but had already scored 112 goals for United in not many more appearances. He also had 19 caps for England with 16 goals to his name.
During my research on other artists I came accross Eduardo Recife (http://www.eduardorecife.com/) - I really liked his work. He is a illustrator, typographer, graphic designer and artist from Brazil, if you go over to

My first few compositions were awful, too bad to put anywhere near the internet. Fortunately, my tutor was brutally honest & I stepped my game up!
Below is what I ended up with, I spent hours printing & re-printing images off - I can't say that I'm totally happy with them but it was only a 2 week project and I definately felt I picked up a lot that I can build with next time!
